Looks like we'll be ready for inspection on Friday (11/21). That doesn't mean the house will be done but it means that we'll be able to start moving some of our stuff in Monday. I'm hoping that we'll be able to move in over the Thanksgiving weekend. Maybe Black Friday!
There is still quite of bit of work to do. Final touches on cabinetry. Landscaping is happening right now in the freezing cold. The back deck railing is going in and they are redoing the stairs to the deck for the 5th time. We still have to figure out blinds - tip: remember if you want lots of windows you will need to spend lots of money on window coverings. One more coat on the wood floors. Final paint touch up. Then the final cleaning. Once they do the final cleaning I'll start taking some close up photos.
I've been taking sporadic photos over the last few weeks. Here are the pics in chronological order since my last post.

| Railing getting installed on the stairs. One of the lessons we learned about this type of railing is that the subcontractor will say they can do anything when you ask them up front. They may even act like it is easy. But once they go to actually do it, they realize how hard it is. In some cases they will do the opposite, say they can't do it but they really can but it is extra hard so they don't want to. That was the case with our cabinet sub. |
